“Live in Bolzano” is the live recording of the concert held in Bolzano in August 2013. The program is a wonderful collection of music of the late eighteenth century, a journey through music by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (Symphony in D major Fk 64 “Dies ist der tags “), Franz Joseph Haydn (Concerto for cello and orchestra in C major Hob. VIIb: 1), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Concerto for violin and orchestra in D major K 211) and Joseph Martin Kraus (Symphony in E minor VB 141).

The program is an ideal journey through places and times of European musical classicism: we go from the bustling Vienna of Mozart to the silences of the court of Esteraháza where Haydn wrote most of his works; from the Dresden of the young Wilhelm Friedmann Bach to the distant Stockholm where Kraus lived and worked. It will be a trip in geography but also in musical genres: Tybo performs two of the most famous concerts of the repertoire for violin and for cello, and two symphonies, still poorly performed, by two authors of primary importance in the classical period.

The two soloists (violinist  Esther Crazzolara, who performs Mozart’s Concerto K211, and cellist  Magdalena Dür, who performs Haydn’s cello concerto) come directly from orchestral ensemble: this kind of choice has characterized TYBO’s program from the very first moment, as Claudio Astronio, permanent conductor of the orchestra, explains: “Youth orchestras often invite big soloists. We, instead, want to put the spotlight on our best talents. This is also a message for all young musicians who play in TYBO about our intention to valorize them all in the best way we can.”

“Ouvertures & Symphonies” is a live too: it is the recording of the concert held in Lodi in November 2014. It was the first concert in which TYBO was conducted by Chiara Banchini. With its perfect alternation of Haydn’s and Boccherini’s compositions, and with the alternation of Overtures and Symphonies, this recording marks the first step of a path that has gone on during all 2015: Chiara Banchini and TYBO have been exploring music from eighteenth century repertoire rarely performed, music that sometime points toward the Sturm und Drang style.
